Pinch PotsOne of the earliest methods of creating a clay vessel, the pinch pot technique is a simple one that is often the first experience students have with clay.
YOUR NEXT PROJECT THEN......is a PINCH POT, of course! But not just "any" pinch pot. You are going to create a sculptural project that is created by joining TWO pinch pots together into an "egg-like" form that you will then alter and transform into one of the following: *An Animal *An Alien or Monster *A seed pod *Another fantastic idea that I haven't thought of! You will get to CHOOSE WHAT you make, but no matter what the subject of your sculpture is, you will need to include the following: 1. Proper joining technique 2. The addition of elements (such as arms, wings, horns, spikes, etc...) 3. Carve into your piece to create texture (does not necessarily have to go into the form, just on the surface 4. Show good craftsmanship--no extra cracks or crumbs; all pieces are joined together, all instructions are followed. 5. Pierce the bottom of your sculpture so that there are air holes that will vent the steam during the firing! GATHER RESOURCES/IDEAS: (6 points!) Find AT LEAST three ideas or examples online that you like, and post them to your Bulb Site. OBSERVE/LEARN: Now that you have gathered some ideas, WATCH this demonstration of the process: CREATE!Now you are ready to go! Gather up your materials, and get started! You will need:
DOCUMENTATION: (12 points)1.Upload a photo of your finished, but unfired project. 2. Upload a photo of your glaze fired project. CONSTRUCTION REFLECTION QUESTIONS:(15 points)(copy and paste the following questions onto your pinch pot page and answer them THERE)
