Fill out an exit ticket describing what happened with my crayon and watercolor
Ideation: We started out by watching Germ Wars, learning all about how to prevent the spread of those nasty germs. We make a list of all the different ways we can stop the spread of germs. With this list, we are hoping to teach the rest of Mesa how to stay germ free! The next step, we think about all the different kind of germs there could be and how they can affect humans. Students think of what kind of germ their germ would be, and share with their peers. Using some reference sheets and a demonstration of the parts of a germ cell, students then draw out their germ.
Materials & Techniques: For this project we use crayons to create a wax resist on the outlines of our germs, then use watercolor paint to fill in the rest of the paper.
Reflection & Assessment: Students fill out an exit ticket, describing what they experienced when painting over the wax resistant. They also name their germ and describe what their germ does to humans that it infects. They also list the best ways to keep yourself from getting infected by their germ.
